Kerry Pascall Is bespoke eLearning right for your organisation?

You’re a senior L&D professional looking to digitally transform the learning for your organisation and you know exactly what you want to achieve. But how do you identify which digital delivery methods are the best fit for your learners and your organisation?

Is Bespoke Elearning Right For Your Organisation 03 04 19

There’s a lot to consider, from aligning with your business, to ensuring your learning intervention engages your learners and delivers tangible results for your business.

If you’re considering bespoke eLearning and you need some help identifying whether it’s the right fit for your organisation, we’ve put together some key thinking points to help you decide:

Learning needs

It may sound obvious but establishing whether your organisation has a unique learning need (or not) is a crucial first step. There’s a big difference between bespoke eLearning that’s designed to help your learners with processes, products or systems specific to your organisation, or simply taking generic learning content and branding it with your logo.

Alignment

Aligning with the goals and objectives of your business is a key component for any successful learning intervention. So, it’s important to establish early on whether investing in bespoke eLearning will support the business in achieving its long-term goals and objectives.

Use alignment as a sounding board – you may even discover that bespoke eLearning is crucial to the future success of your organisation.

Complexity

The next step is about assessing how complex your organisation is – the more complex, the more likely you are to benefit from bespoke eLearning.

For instance, is health and safety a big risk in your industry? Is your product information difficult to understand? Perhaps the structure of your organisation has several international locations.

Complex organisations often have needs that generic learning content won’t be able to address, and bespoke eLearning might be the answer.

Brand

For some organisations, developing learning that emulates their brand and integrates their core values and messaging is a big priority. After all, if your people really understand your brand, they will be more engaged and better placed to serve as brand ambassadors for potential customers.

Learning interventions that are on brand can also have a positive impact on learner engagement. If your learners recognise the graphics, messages and the tone of voice of their organisation, they are more likely to relate to the learning and engage with the content.

Resources

Resources including budget, available technology and stakeholder buy-in are big factors when considering bespoke eLearning.

Until you’ve gathered a few quotes from suppliers, it might be hard for you to judge how much your project will cost. One thing to consider is scalability – the more learners you have, the lower the cost per head of the bespoke eLearning.

Access to technology is another key consideration. Things like whether you already have an LMS in place, or what technology your learners have access to are important to consider before deploying any type of eLearning content within your organisation.

KPIs

Successfully measuring the ROI of learning inline with the business goals and objectives can feel like an uphill struggle for many learning professionals. Luckily, bespoke eLearning can be a really powerful tool for gathering feedback and assessing the impact of your learning. You can decide early on which metrics are important to your organisation and build them into your eLearning.

If measuring specific learning metrics is a priority for your organisation, bespoke eLearning might be the right fit for you.

Time

In the past, bespoke eLearning took a huge amount of time and energy to design and develop, so if you had an urgent need for a digital learning project, you may not have had the luxury of investing in something bespoke.

That’s why we’ve developed our brand-new Digital Learning SOS service, which can deliver your bespoke eLearning on budget, on time, with no faff.

So, if you have an urgent need, bespoke eLearning might still be an option for you.
